Silver jewellery
The Malian silver bracelet (often called Tuareg silver or Sahel silver) is clearly distinguished by its strong cultural identity: It is made from pure silver (often titrated to 925/1000) or a high quality traditional alloy combining silver and local metals (sometimes called engraved solid silver). Designs include rigid geometric shapes (open rods, cufflinks) or finely twisted chains. Hand engraved motifs represent traditional cultural symbols (South Cross, dunes, caravan traces, Berber geometric motifs). The incised patterns are frequently highlighted by a black patina (ebony or nilled engraving), creating a striking contrast with the white glow of silver.
